My First Mammogram

Tuesday, July 3, 2012

I am so nervous today ....It's finally here, the day I have my first mammogram ...I googled and found so many different points of view ....I am shaking and my appointment is not until 4 more hours ....

Surely since they claim to have walked on the moon we can come up with a less scary way to exam a women's breast....From what I read you have 2 cold plates squeeze your breast together until it hurts...It just  don't seem right to me and what the hell did we ever do to have to go through that ... oh right I forgot we talked to that damn serpent but damn wasn't childbirth enough

I have to go now and practice the exercise I found on a blog called Olio by Marilyn

Open your refrigerator door and insert one breast in door.
Shut the door as hard as possible and lean on the door for good measure.
Hold that position for five seconds. Repeat again in case the first time wasn't effective enough.

Of course it was a joke but after reading some other takes on the cursed mammogram I do wonder ......

I will let you all know how it went if I can still type  :~/

Good luck. Really it can be a non-event, just depends on your technician and the type of breast tissue you have. My first time was a total Murphy's Law experience, but since then it's been smooth sailing. Don't know if my blog on my first mammogram is how you found me, but if not you can read it AFTER you are done. :) http://www.oliobymarilyn.com/2012/01/dreaded-m-word-mammogram.html

“But is it such a bad thing to live like this for just a little while? Just for a few months of one's life, is it so awful to travel through time with no greater ambition than to find the next lovely meal? Or to learn how to speak a language for no higher purpose than that it pleases your ear to hear it? Or to nap in a garden, in a patch of sunlight, in the middle of the day, right next to your favourite fountain? And then to do it again the next day?”
